WOW Shorts 1 - true & brave
Our short film program is one of the most appreciated parts of the film festival. This year, we've carefully handpicked some of Sweden's best films and made two thematic sets of five films in each. The short films will be screened daily in our Slottsskogen Cinema, located in Skate Garden.

Attentat by Johannes Persson, Sweden (2024), 15 min
15-year-old Gustav is vegan and straight edge in 90s Umeå. One night, he follows his
friend Zeke, full of hatred against the meat industry, to the town’s slaughterhouse
with gasoline-filled bottles. It will be a night that changes Gustav forever.

Muse delves into the complexities of self-expression, beauty, and societal norms, showcasing the journey of self-discovery, acceptance and overcoming the feeling of doubt. A visual interaction of poetry, dance and sound.
Arg_gubbe.mov by Daniel Aguirre, Sweden (2024), 14 min
Daniel is attacked by an angry old man who accuses him of throwing stones during a demonstration. The man identifies himself as a supporter of the right, calls Daniel a ‘leftist gay’ and challenges him to a fight. Daniel refuses to fight but afterwards struggles to get over the attack. He decides to find the angry old man – and begins a journey to confront his fears, seek reparation and understand those who think differently than himself.
