Bartees Strange
Friday Aug 8
Very few artists exhibit the same radical defiance towards genres as Bartess Strange. Indie-rock, rap, soul, funk-rock, pop, R&B – the list goes on. But no matter the expression, there is a critical immediacy in the music of the anarchistic, Black, queer artist from Oklahoma. On his third and latest album ‘Horror’ (2025), Strange has cooperated with producer Jack Antonoff to create his most ambitious work so far. As the title implies, the album revolved around fears. About facing them and becoming someone who is feared by others. Bartess Strange, who played in hardcore bands in New York when he was younger, is known for his energetic and spirited live performances. Something the audience at Stay Out West will experience first-hand this summer!
